This is not a typical meal plan for me. Tonight we had a fundraiser dinner and a friend visiting from out of town. Both of which I didn't know about in advance or I would have cut back on my calories earlier in the day to make up for going out to dinner tonight.

As of right now, I am not in weight loss mode. I'm just trying to maintain my current weight. I spent many long months working to lose weight but I am currently at my goal and instead of trying to lose weight, I'm trying to increase my fitness. Using the formula outlined in The Business Plan for the Body by Jim Karas I know that my maintenance calories are currently 1835. This means that at my current height, weight and activity level, I can take in 1835 per day and not gain weight.

I went over my calorie budget by 230 tonight but that's ok. Why? Because I don't do this all the time. There are other days that I take in less than the 1835 and I can easily make up for it if I make sure I don't turn this into a habit. I'll try and add a little time at the gym this week or cut back on a snack tomorrow. If you look at my food intake for the day, I could have broken even if I had skipped the rice crisps.

I'll put together another post on the details of how to figure out your own calorie goals tomorrow.

Overall I had no difficulty with eating vegetarian today. I almost ordered the Ahi Tuna Salad for dinner tonight out of habit but remembered before the waiter came. Like I said, today was a bit of an unusual day so we'll see how it goes tomorrow.

Did anyone else decide to try vegetarian? How did it go?
